5 Ways to Wear White After Labor Day and Look Fabulous

Without getting into a history lesson, I’ll just say this: the “don’t-wear-white-after-Labor-Day” rule is super outdated and just plain ridiculous.

Of course you can (and should) wear white all year long.

It goes with everything and looks great on everyone. And it can make for an especially amazing style as the weather gets cooler.

Here are some examples:

1 - White boots

Tall or short, chunky or pointy, white boots can make any outfit pop. They complement any color and look great with either an all-white or black-and-white color blocking. I love these from Sam Edelman (who creates quality shoes at an affordable price).

2 - White blazer

A white blazer is such a versatile piece to wear year round. It helps create a look that is both powerful and feminine. I especially love a white blazer with holiday outfits in hues of cranberry or forest green. And, of course, you can use it to create a black-and-white color block look. A white jacket with ruched or ¾ sleeves allows for year-round wearables, similar to the one here.

3 - White oversized chunky knit sweater

Versatility and warmth is the key here. You can choose from a number of timeless weaves, including fisherman, cable and honeycomb. Wear this sweater over a pair of leggings and tall boots, or with jeans and athleisure sneakers. For a more elevated look, pair with tight leather pants, pumps, trendy jewelry and a statement clutch. Personally, I like Free People for sweaters like this one.

4 - White coat

I own a white puffer coat that I received as a gift for Christmas. I stand out among the sea of black jackets. It’s machine-washable and one of the reasons I look forward to cold weather. A white trench coat also looks amazing and complements any outfit when the weather is less-than friendly. Check out this great coat from The North Face.

5 - White corduroy pants

White corduroy pants are as versatile as jeans, so you can pair them with pretty much anything. Depending on your body type and comfort preference, you can choose from matchstick, skinny, mid-rise, high-rise and boot cut options. White cords look great with a contrasting bootie and a sweater. What makes corduroy pants even better is they are durable and machine-washable so they make for a great investment. I had a pair from J. Crew that lasted me over 3 years! Here a link to a similar pair.
