4 Holiday Outfits at 4 Different Price Points
‘Tis the season for holiday parties and that means ‘tis the time to begin thinking about what you’re going to wear. First, you need to know how formal or informal your event is, and then you need to decide how much you’re willing to invest in your outfit.
Let’s talk about you. Have you been with your company for a few years and you’re now looking to get to the next level in your career? Are you a new hire who wants to make a good impression on an entry-level paycheck? Whatever your status and your budget, I’ve broken down some of my favorite designer looks available online and at department stores. It’s smart to shop the stores that offer promotions or discounts to their customers and card holders. For this post, I looked at a price ranges from under $100 to over $500.
Under $100
I would shop at Nordstrom Rack. Start on their website by using the online sorting tool based on your budget. I have purchased many dresses at Nordstrom Rack for less that $50. A recent search found nearly 1700 options under cocktail dresses ranging from $50-$100. Designers include Vince Camuto, Sam Edelman and Dress the Population. Shopping at Nordstrom Rack can be an easy and affordable option.
$100 - $250
I love Eliza J. dresses, especially since she offers a large inventory in petite and plus (I personally own two). Her dresses are high quality, they wash well, hold their shape and are extremely comfortable. You can find Eliza J. dresses at Macy’s, Lord & Taylor and Nordstrom. I would choose this silver shimmer because, not only does it scream “celebrate,” but I can also wear my everyday bra and remain totally comfortable on the dance floor. For $188, I could get even more use out of this dress at an evening/winter wedding.
$250-$400
I recommend two designers that offer exceptional quality and timeless style at this price point. I have a dress by Adrianna Pappel that I have worn on multiple occasions. The other designer I like is Tadashi Shoji. Both of these designers have exquisite detail and appliques. I love this bold red dress, for $388, that can also be worn on other special occasions, such as Valentine’s Day.
$400 and up
At this price point, I look to Saloni for inspiration. I purchased a Saloni dress for my son’s college graduation and I couldn’t be happier with the quality and beauty. Saloni represents the modern woman, with diverse global influences from London, Hong Kong and India. I love this black jumper for its subtle sophistication, glamour, femininity and power. It retails for $550 and is sold at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and the Saloni Official website.
Whether your holiday party is a grand event or a more casual get-together, make sure you are the best dressed there (while remaining within your budget). Start shopping today to complete your look. Remember, just because you have the dress, doesn’t mean you have the outfit—don’t forget to accessorize!
